Our work transcends borders

This month, our newsletter is highlighting a Point of Unity that uplifts our connectivity, our solidarity, and our global movement building work:“We are not alone and our work transcends borders.

In this time of social distancing and isolation, we look for each other and find ways to be together, because connection and community will keep us strong.

Social justice, music and political education are the driving forces of  our camps and programs. That’s why we are trying to explore new formats and searching for ways to support our many communities during these uncertain times.

It’s good to remind us that we are not alone in this journey and there are folks all around the world that can share their experiences and wisdom with us. We are so excited by the announcements in this newsletter, and the ways that we are connecting that can truly transcend borders.

In this newsletter we present our new GRCA Community Platform, introduce our PenPal program, and provide information about the GRCA’s very first Virtual Annual Member Meeting (AMM)

We can’t wait to connect with you all.

With love and solidarity,
The GRCA Board of Directors

INTRODUCING: The GRCA Community Space

We have really exciting news for our members! Are you ready? We have a new platform to bring us all together: The GRCA Community Platform!!!

What is GRCA Community?

GRCA Community is a private virtual space for Girls Rock Camp Alliance member organizations, where you can find and share resources, join interest and working groups, explore and experience events happening all over the globe, and stay in touch with other GRCA members. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

Are you or have you been involved with a GRCA Organization?

If the answer is YES, go to: https://community.girlsrockcampalliance.org.

Once you click “Join,” you’ll be prompted to create your account!  You can sign up using your first and last name, email, and an optional profile photo to get started.  You can also sign up using a Facebook or LinkedIn account, if you prefer.

What if someone is not part of any GRCA organization and wants to join?

At this time, GRCA Community is currently exclusive for folks ages 18+ who have volunteered and/or are part of any of our member organizations.  For those of any age who are interested in the GRCA movement (including non-members), we are working on a listserv and will provide you with more information through your Board Buddies and in the June Newsletter. Stay tuned!

Are you already there and you don’t know where to start?
A suggestion: you can navigate through the topics (“FUNdamentals”, “Political Education”, etc).  If there is any resource that catches your attention you can tag a GRCA friend to read it or just comment it.

You can track which cities are represented by program applicants so far by checking this map! Pen pals are on three continents and five countries so far and are excited to connect with far-away friends.

The program is intended for any camper/participant, volunteer, staff member, or board member of any current GRCA member organization–please only share the application links with these people directly to support the security of the pen pal exchange (no public social media posts with the application link, please!).
